About Feminism, there are different strains of it. And generally these break down into two:
1. One is reformist and often moralistic and puritanical. They trumpeted motherhood as the reason why women should get the vote. They fought for Temperance and Prohibition. They seek to end the structural oppression and violation of women. Their positions are to a good degree parodied in D. W. Griffith's 1916 movie Intolerance. Look for The Uplifters. And of course they are anti-porn, anti-strip clubs, anti-prostitution.
2. The second school of thought is generally following Marxism and Existentialism, and comes in part through Simone de Beauvoir. They want women to have freedom, instead of repression. So they are pro sex, and also strip clubs, porno movies, and prostitution. There should not be any restrictions on the freedom of women. While they recognize that there is always the potential for exploitation and abuse, most of this is made worse by criminalization of women. So in Second Sex, de Beauvoir lays out four character types women are forced into. The objective must always be to break down these divisions and controls.
So in fighting for Algerian independence, de Beauvoir took the high road, and fought not just for access to contraception, but led by fighting for access to abortion. Much of de Beauvoir's fiction includes abortion.
And then you have those like Alexandra Kollontai, Lenin's Minister of Women's Affairs, who wanted to abolish marriage and the family.
And so you do have pro-sex feminists, like Nina Hartley, often the spokes person for women in porn. And then Cozi Fabian, who became a prostitute at the age of 40, San Francisco. And former porn actress Annie Sprinkle.
